Essential Standards by the end of Semester 2 are the guaranteed and vital learning goals and outcomes, central to course objectives and framework. The remaining units will be covered:
- TV /Video Production: Video Editing techniques in Adobe Premiere Pro, Video Lighting and News Production. If there is enough time at the end of the school year, Studio Production will be introduced.
- Graphic Design 2: Elements of Design and Design Movement. If there is enough time at the end of the school year, the designing for clients unit will be introduced as discussed in class.
- Assessing understanding of Essential Learning content: this will primarily include daily meaningful graded assignments, discussion questions, and projects for students to practice and demonstrate the understanding of the material.
- Instructional Platform: Use of Microsoft Teams will be required starting April 20. Please fill out the survey to state that you understand the use of Microsoft teams for remote learning as required.
- General Channel
- Posts tab: This is where I'll post general information about Essential Learning; it is locked so only I can post content here
- Assignments tab: This is where all assigned work (i.e.,assignments, discussion questions, projects, etc) will be posted; each assignment will be named with the date assigned in the title for easy navigation and will also have a description of the activity, date assigned, instructions, due date/time, and information about how it will be scored/graded. Please note: all assigned work will be due at 11:59 pm on every Friday of the week it was assigned (no late work accepted).
- Files tab: This is where I'll post supplementary learning materials (downloadable video clips) and unit PowerPoint Presentations. If a file or folder needs to be downloaded, you need to move your cursor closer to the file or folder, click on the three dots "..." next to it and select download or other options.
- Weekly Channels
- There is a separate channel for each week of the remainder of the school year.
- Every weekday (M-F), in the Posts tab of each of these weekly channels, you will be able to interact with your peers by giving at least three comments for the posted work/project and receive feedback from peers and the teacher to revise and resubmit before the due date.
- How to turn in your work: please use a compose box to attach your work for peer reviews by posting at least three comments based on the Assignment Rubric in Posts tab; and your saved work will automatically go to Files tab. This is how you turn in your work.
- Grading:The District is still considering the best possible way to approach grading (i.e.: assigning a letter grade vs providing pass/fail/no credit options, etc.), and information will be communicated from ISD when decisions are made. For TV Production/Graphic Design 2 assigned work, I will specify in the assignment description how assigned work/project will be graded/scored according to assignment rubric, requirements, expectation, rigor, etc.
- Office Hours: I will host Office Hours to answer specific student questions regarding Essential Learning content and the 25 minute daily learning activities. The first 30 minutes will be via Microsoft Teams Video Meeting and the last 30 minutes will be via emails in order to meet students' needs in different ways. If you have questions or need clarification about any Essential Learning content, you can post in the Posts tab of the appropriate chapter's channel at your convenience and I will respond during my Office Hours. If you won't be able to make it during office hours, you can email me at any time and I will respond as soon as possible.
